Visitors to Western
Alert WesternU, powered by Everbridge, is Western's emergency mass notification system. It issues important safety messages to current students, faculty and staff at Western and the Affiliated Colleges (Brescia University College, Huron University College and King's University College) in the event of a campus wide emergency through their Alert WesternU accounts.
Anyone on campus who doesn't have an Alert WesternU account can still receive Alert WesternU messages by installing the Everbridge Mobile app (iOS and Android). If you are on campus, you will receive the notification when it is sent. If you are off campus, you can check to see if there are any active notifications.
During configuration of the Everbridge app, you will be asked to "Share location for public alerts?" Allowing location access for public alerts (e.g. from Western University) allows you to be notified if your're in an incident zone. (i.e. at Western, Brescia University College, Huron University College or King's University College). Data shared for public safety purposed will not be shared with your organization or anyone else. No one will be able to track you or see your location.
Visitors to Western include parents, family, friends, contractors, people attending events, etc. i.e. anyone without a current Alert WesternU account.
NOTE: This feature will first be available with the system test on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
