Emergency Notification
VENDOR UPDATE - 01 May 2023
Alert WesternU is Western University’s emergency mass notification / crisis communication system that issues important life safety messages in the event of a community-wide emergency to the entire Western campus. You can expect to be notified in the event of an imminent danger, building evacuation, severe weather emergencies (such as tornado), or critical university status updates. Alert WesternU is tested three times annually on the first Wednesday in October and February, and the Wednesday of Emergency Preparedness Week in May.
As of May 1st, Western University will have a new Mass Notification and Crisis Communication System provider. OnSolve MIR3 replaces Everbridge. Watch for news about using the MIR3 Mobile App which significantly increases the speed of emergency notifications over SMS text messaging and emails which can often be delayed in emergencies when cellular traffic is extremely high and can overwhelm cellular carriers.
Western Campus Safety strongly encourages you to download the OnSolve MIR3 Mobile App. Available for both Apple and Android platforms through:
App Store - Apple (CA) Android Apps on Google Play
