Emergency Communication Channels

Communication in an emergency situation will be made available to the Western campus community through a variety of resources:

Alert WesternU:  In the event of an incident on campus, emergency notifications and critical communications will be issued through an email to all campus community members with a current Western email address, including Ivey Business School and affiliated university colleges, the Alertable Mobile App, Microsoft Teams and SMS text messaging.

Use of the Alertable Mobile App significantly increases the speed of notifications over text messaging, which can often be delayed in an emergencies when cellular traffic is extremely high and can overwhelm cellular carriers. Standard message rates may apply for text messages. 

Campus Safety and Emergency Services strongly encourages use of the Alertable Mobile App, which is available for both Apple and Android platforms.
